Kort efter beskedet från Storbritannien att drottning Elizabeth II hade dött på torsdag kväll framförde Finlands president Sauli Niinistö sina kondoleanser på Twitter. ”Under hennes 70 år bevittnade och formade hon historien som få andra", skriver presidenten och fortsätter:
”Hennes pliktkänsla och hängivenhet för att tjäna är ett exempel för oss alla. De djupaste kondoleanserna till den kungliga familjen och folket i Storbritannien”.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In her 70-year reign she witnessed and shaped history like few others. Her sense of duty and devotion to service are an example to us all. Deepest condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the UK.

Också Finlands statsminister Sanna Marin (SDP) har uttalat sig på Twitter.
”Mina djupaste kondoleanser till den kungliga familjen, folket i Storbritannien och samväldet. Våra tankar är med familjen och Hennes majestät drottning Elizabeth II:s nära och kära”, skriver Marin.
